The Caravanserai of Sa’d al-Saltaneh is a large Caravanserai located in the city of Qazvin in Qazvin Province of Iran. The area of Carvansarai is 6.2 hectares. It is one of the best Persia’s urban Carvansarais and the largest indoor inn in the world.

The Caravanserai was built during the Qajar Dynasty by the rule of Nasereddin Shah (who ruled from 1848 to 1896). The builder of this large caravanserai was a person by the name Sa’d al-Saltaneh Isfahani, for whom the caravanserai is named after.

The caravanserai is located right next to the bazaar of Qazvin. The Carvansarai is built on a square plan with 4 Iwans facing a courtyard.

The complex consists of 7 yards, a bazaar, and a dedicated bathhouse. There are also two smaller courtyards in the east and west of the Caravanserai.

In the recent years, the caravanserai has been renovated. The bazaar of this complex is full of small shops offering jewelry, handicrafts, carpets, paintings, and ceramics as well as cafes and restaurants in a relaxing atmosphere.

We will visit the caravanserai on Persia Food Tour.
